ENVIRONMENT NEEDS YOUR HELP DO YOU CARE??
BEFORE 5 June 2012, WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
DO THESE SIMPLE THINGS ONE TIME or More if you CAN
I CAN .. CAN YOU?
Rechargeable batteries instead of disposables
Durable instead of disposables
Plastic, avoid it as much as you can
Donate old furniture and clothes instead of throwing them away
Plants. Put a beautiful potted plant in you balcony
share like tell all your friends, CARE
SPREAD THE WORD. LET EVERYONE KNOW AND LET THEM DECIDE
PLANTS
LIKE OLD DAYS PUT A POTTED PLANT IN YOUR BALCONY OR GARDEN. IF YOU CAN Plant a tree in your neighborhood or near your home; They suck up harmful CO2 gases. If you can't plant one, try potted plants.
Here is NASA's Top 10 House Plants for Removing Indoor Air Pollution
PS: When you are out enjoying nature, no matter how tempting it may be, DO NOT FEED THE WILD ANIMALS! Feeding wild animals makes them dependent upon human food, which will ultimately lead them to starve when humans are not around (usually during winter).

JUST TURN OFF lights and appliances when not in use. :)
SAVE ENERGY
AVOID PLASTIC WHENEVER YOU CAN (things like disposable plastic cups, plastic bags, nonsense plastic items you don't need) - CARRY A CLOTH BAG WHEN GOING SHOPPING OR REFUSE A PLASTIC BAG WHEN BUYING THINGS YOU CAN CARRY (EX. A CAN OF SODA OR A BOTTLE OF WATER)
Shopping Bags -- Plastic bags are not biodegradable even if they say they are they do not decompose fully. Also the ink is made up of cadmium, and is highly toxic when it is released. Whereas paper bags are reusable and biodegradable. However supermarkets use paper that has never been recycled before and they always say "recyclable" not "recycled". Here is what you can do: if your purchase is small don't take any bag, this alone could save hundreds of millions of bags. Bring a cloth bag when you shop, or use string bags.
It never breaks down, and has led to the poisoning and death of numerous sea creatures. Look into ways that plastic can be recycled in your area. Some cities have programs for recycling plastic bags and other difficult to recycle types of plastic.
If you are just getting a soda, or something else that does not require a bag (or if you're just not going to use it), don't take one.
Consider the Following Shocking Facts About Plastic Shopping Bags:
Plastic bags are made of polyethylene
Polyethylene is a petroleum product
Production contributes to air pollution and energy consumption
Four to five trillion plastic bags are manufactured each year
Americans use over 380 billion polyethylene bags per year
Americans throw away approximately 100 billion polyethylene bags per year
Of those 100 trillion plastic bags, 1% are recycled
It takes 1000 years for polyethylene bags to break down
As polyethylene breaks down, toxic substances leach into the soil and enter the food chain
Approximately 1 billion seabirds and mammals die per year by ingesting plastic bags
Plastic bags are often mistaken as food by marine mammals. 100,000 marine mammals die yearly by eating plastic bags.
These animals suffer a painful death, the plastic wraps around their intestines or they choke to death
Plastic bag choke landfills
Plastic bags are carried by the wind into forests, ponds, rivers, and lakes

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
Use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable batteries. Batteries not only take up landfill space (they can't be incinerated), they can leak acid into the Earth. Even then, only use the appliance when you must. If you have the choice, plug in the device instead of using batteries.
Batteries contain heavy metals, such as mercury and cadmium, which have become a major source of contamination in dump sites. They either break apart and are released into the soil or are incinerated and the deadly heavy metals are released into the air. Did you know that the average annual use of mercury in batteries is over what the government limits in dump sites by four times. Here is what you can do to help: use batteries which are rechargeable. Recycle alkaline batteries if you can. They can extract the mercury and cadmium for reuse.

AVOID using DISPOSABLE items as much as possible - INSTEAD USE DURABLE
Anything you use only a few times and throw away consumes resources only to spend centuries in a landfill
Baby wipes - Use washcloths or handmade cloth wipes and wipes solution (OLD CLOTHES INSTEAD OF THROWING THEM AWAY)
Baby food - Homemade baby food has no packaging!
Batteries - Use rechargeable when you can!
Coffee cups - Bring your own travel mug!
One-time use cleaning products - Use a rag with vinegar and baking soda instead, or rubbing alcohol and water to disinfect
Plastic produce bags - use reusable produce bags
Plastic baggies - Try reusable baggies/sandwich bags
Plastic water bottles - Always have one (or two) on hand and keep them full
Razors - Use a straight razor blade instead, or at least try to make them last longer
Shopping bags - Reusable bags are more and more popular. Get into the habit of bringing them!
Sponges - Use crocheted kitchen scrubbies and dish rags

DONATE OLD FURNITURE OR CLOTHES INSTEAD OF THROWING THEM AWAY
Reuse clothing, and find something snazzy to do with it. You can reinvent wearable pieces or donate them to charity. You could use an old t-shirt as housekeeping rags, make mop tie out of them, or sew patches onto things. Be creative! Did you know you can make construction paper out of denim jeans?!
